Temple of the Sun:Part II

As mentioned before, the Temple of the Sun was a bastion of religious activity within indigenous and Mesoamerican societies. During Aztec rule, Teotihuacan and the Temple of the Sun became a site of holy pilgrimage and religious sacrifice. Yet we must ask ourselves why is the Temple of the Sun and the overall religious architecture of Teotihuacan relevant in modern times? Furthermore why should such a site be preserved? Ultimately it is crucial to preserve Teotihuacan and the temple of the sun, due to the architectural and societal insight that study of such buildings yield. If we do not preserve the temple of the sun and other buildings we would have little knowledge regarding aztec religion, and overall mesoamerican society.
